Table of Contents

New user looking for experience setting up a document with a table of contents. Basically I am looking for a 5-10 page document, that has a table of contents on the first page, I want to set-up links from that table of contents to pages within the same document. The tutorials on the site are vague...anyone have any experience with this feature or samples. I would appreciate any help!

Hi! There are two ways:

1) you manually use the ultra-fast link creation feature (read Chapter 1 of the PDF manual) and you write the table of contents manually then you create links (by highlighting the various lines)

2) you place the cursor where you want the table of contents to be created; use the menu Insert >Contents (available in CDFrontEnd PRO and GOLD), select the options in the dialog, press OK, and the program does it all. The automatic procedure uses the page titles (the ones you can set, for example, with Format >Page properties and the box on the top left ; there are also other ways)

by the way there is a second Table Of Contents feature: you can set up a tree-like table of contents with Hypertext >Predefined page order - TOC

you should do this after creating your pages.

this TOC / predefined page order is used for the Print feature (the user can print pages selected manually, selected through a navigation, selected using the toc order / predefined page order)

this TOC can also be used for the Insert >Contents automatic hyperlinked table of contents generation.
