Creation distribution selling ecommerce affiliate

Just received an email with an interesting subject.

>>>
Hello!  Is what you are saying that this software can do is if I entered my credit card information and made a selection that I could download and print a book from my screen.  Is there a minimum of the number of pages that you can print, say quantities as small as one or 2 pages?
Will it interface with marketplaces like msn's?
>>>

This is interesting because actually some competitors does offer a proprietary solution for the ebook selling.
We don't want to do this as we don't want you be forced to stay with us for the selling of your book. This would be a limit.

With EBooksWriter you can create a compact selfextracting ebook (it can be saved as exe file).

The selling / downloading is another issue. You should manage it in order to get the maximum profit.
There are few options:

1)There are several selling services that can manage selling and downloading. One is www.swreg.org. If you subscribe with them, you can set up things in order the end user will enter CC info, and so it will download the ebook file (swreg will store the file for you, and allow the download for purchasers only).
We just recommend it, there are several others.

2)You can use another credit card servic (usually you set up an order form and you receive an email with user's data when someone do purchase), then put a *passworded* ebook for download on your Web site (say with 2 free pages, the rest password protected), then email the password to purchasers only.

3)You can sell the ebook through ebay or so; then email download instructions and password to the purchasers (as for 2 you need your own Web site to store the ebook file)

As said, our software manages the creation of the ebook. We do not force any proprietary solution for the selling (this way you can choose what you like, and possibly change if you found a better option).

Hope this helps

We've just received another email about Ebook creation, website show, distribution, selling.

I think it is worth to copy it as it is a very common question for novices .

>>>>
I am a published children's book author through a traditional publisher.  But I have written [...] that I would like to make available by ebook, since [...].
Can I use your program to turn my books into ebooks?  Can I sell them from my website using your program?  How would I do the sales and download?  How would I find out how to do the credit card thing?  How would people trust putting their card in?
>>>>

You are talking about three separate things:
1) to create a compact redistributable ebook (maybe protected)
2) to put the ebook file on a website
3) take CC payments

For 1) you can use EBooksWriter. It is a professional and easy to use visual tool for creating and protecting an ebook. You can start from scratch and have a compact redistributable ebook file (I say "a" but actually you can produce infinite ebooks).
You can also import text and images created with different programs.

For 2) you need a Web space and a Website creator program (if you don't have one, you can get our "1SITE", we also have a bundle offer "EBooksWriter PRO + 1SITE", i.e. you can get both products with a very good discount. See the offer on http://www.ebookswriter.com - for more info about 1SITE, http://www.1site.info ). The Website will show your works and so will act as store / showroom.

For 3) you can use a merchant account and a SSL stuff on your Web space (ask your host; you might also need a web expert guy for this) or you can simply use a third party service such as www.swreg.org (they can also deliver the ebook file to the purchaser just after the purchase).
Both solutions do use an https:// server, technically speaking, this is a very secure method (actually it is more sure than to use a credit card into a physical shop - the most of the so called "internet fraud" does happen this way: the theft copy your CC number when you use the card into a physical store, then he/she use the card to purchase a good over the Internet). When a site is "https://" an icon with a padlock or a key does show in the browser, and this guarantees a secure encrypted connection (nobody can see the credit card data, even the FBI would have serious problems).

For the last part you can also have a look into

http://www.shareit.com/index.html

Share-it has in my opinion an advantage: it is able to communicate with your clients in several languages ( with me, it was the portuguese language availability that did the trick ).

Another plus is that they can process credit card orders by fax, not only through the internet.

Plus there are no fixed or upfront fees whatsoever, they just charge you a commission.

You yourself have to be able to communicate in english or german with them.

Ze

PS: I know this sounds a lot like advertising but believe me I do not have any other ties to share-it besides selling some stuff through them.

Hi folks,

I've been in the market for ebook product building products for a while.  What I've come across are two things, software and compilers.

Yours seems very much like what I would like to have, it has multiple features for security, able to embed various object and allows the use of plain to PDF format, which is what I am looking for.

I, at this time, am a developing webmaster, that is, I am some where on the strenuous learning curve.  My unique specific requirements do need certain skills, which I frankly don't know if I have the time to learn and implement.

What I  need is the implanting of user specific (ie *username/userpassword/key/code/callitwhatyouwant)to a standard document, a part of the e-book, as there are two parts,  for off line marketing purposes.

My business plan requires affiliate marketing and two tier tracking, that is obtainable, and my selection has not been made, but I've found some good product to deliver this with.

I have the files saved in .html, eps. pdf and another one, that name eludes me.  But for acceptability,  I wish to deliver a PDF product to get it in the hands of more people.

But the main concern is to incorporate the affliliate username (*from example above) into the document automatically some time during the purchase, registration, email notification downloading process.

Where and how of the actual location is going to be would be determined by those most qualified to make that decision.

Q.  Does your product allow this?
Q.  If so, can you provide help?
Q.  If it does, can some one there be retained by me to implement this?

Hi!
1) a secure ebook and PDF are two incompatible thing. An ebook should not be in PDF to be secure (as there are thousands of tools to unprotect PDF, it is a very vulnerable format). We use an internal private format and secure 128 bit encoding

2) we do provide the "custom password for each user" option; you can protect all the ebook or part(s) of it; you may even apply different passwords to different sections, if you'd like.

3) for marketing, affiliates etc. we do not deal with marketing or ecommerce; with our product you create the ebook, packed and protected. Then you choose a specific service for ecommerce, without our intervention and without being locked to us. Maybe this service doesn't work well, or you find another one that's better, or better manages affiliates: ok, you'll change. And you won't have to trash or redo the ebook.

Usually, it is handy to have the affiliate management performed by the ecommerce service. There are several ecommerce providers with good affiliate management. I don't know about 2 tiers stuff... for software I know that RegNow is quite good for affiliates, it works this way: the affiliates are provided with two (or three) links that they can place in their websites:
a) link to buy page
b) link to your web site

within your website then you place a special code so also if the people decides to purchase within your web site, the affiliate receives its percent.

I think it is not needed to have the "affiliate code" within the ebook, because the ebook shouldn't do things with the ecommerce and can be seen offline...

It would be useful that, if you offer a "test" edition of the ebook for download, then the site/page that allows this download tracks the affiliate (usually this happens by storing a "cookie" on the end user PC). So if the end user after some time decides to buy the ebook, it will have this "cookie" stored into its PC and so your ecommerce will be able to read the affiliate info.

Example: with RegNow this happens if you allow the test ebook download in page b).

The techniques and systems are infinite and there are almost infinite ecommerce systems... maybe you will be able to post here more info

Hi,
I´m a writer and I want to sell my books over the internet.  I plan to offer my books from my site in 3 different ways:

1.Protected from editing, printing and using copy/paste the text…and from copying the file (if possible).

2.Start a kind of a library using the expiration feature, the client could download the book for a fee  (the book would be protected from print, copy/paste also) during a period of 30 days for example.

My workflow for creating the books would be:

1.Writing the book in msword.

2.Editing the book using in design and saving in EPUB format.

3.Open the saved file with ebookswriter and protect it from editing, printing, copy/paste and expiration date for library books.  Save the changes  to EPUB file.

My questions:
-Does ebookswriter  fit in my workflow?

-Which version of ebw would work for me?

Hi!
You can:
1) write and edit the ebook using EBooksWriter
2) create the epub using EBooksWriter

as for protecting the epub, only Adobe (at present) offers a epub protection feature that is associated with selling / ecommerce. They did not release the specification to allow external protections for the epub (and to be honest the buzz is that their own protection is weak and maybe this is the reason? however we would welcome to add protections to epub if somebody tell us what would be the standard tech specifications)

EbooksWriter can protect (in a secure way) .exe / .aeh ebooks.

Hi agian,
thank you for answering so fast..
If I understood you right, I could write and edit an EPUB file using ebw but the resulting EPUB file could be edited, printed and copy/pasted using any EPB editor.

wouldn´t it be possible laying a watermark on the book?

Thank you for your patience

actually I don't know any editor that can open and edit a EPUB file directly; a EPUB file is a bit delicate,  usually you save it from an automatic editor. Common people is usually unable to edit a EPUB file.

EBW can place a watermark text on the bottom of each page; this is available in the "Options" tab of the ebook export dialog.

Before I buy EBW...

1. I can use EBW for creating EPUB.

2. "Common people is usually unable to edit a EPUB file". I´m not Stieg Larsson so I don´t think a lot of crackers are willing to spend their time in the effort.

3. I can use the expiration date feature for implementing a "library" (People buy a protected .exe file with a expiration date)

Is that right?

I gotta say you have a wonderfull support service

Cheers

1) ok

2) we wish you success anyway

3) yes; the expiration date works on .exe and .aeh ebook files; this feature is available in EBooksWriter PRO and GOLD

(and thank you - we try to do our best)

How do you link the physical e-book to website payment system? It's a detail I can't figure out. I intended to separate the payment of the book itself. You can put a download link for the book besides a Buy link to the payment system, both on the website. Or you insert a link in the book directing the reader to the payment system. How did you design the book and which solution does fit your software?

please read above....
Basically, you can do whatever you want, there are no constraints.

Some ways for the EXE ebooks:
ONE
a) you create a web site and you talk about your ebook
b) you subscribe to a payment service (e.g. SWREG or others)
c) you configure the payment service (usually they have a control panel or so) and you put on your website the buttons (shopping cart or other links) to permit to the end user to go to a form where he inserts his name and credit card and so on
d) you configure the payment service in order that, after purchase, the ebook is sent by email, or a email with a private download link is sent (some payment service may automatically generate a special download link such as a one-time download link or anyway a download limited for N downloads and then it expires)
d1) some ecommerce may just offer you the chance to show a given page of your website after the purchase; this page may contain the download link or other instructions

TWO
e) you create a sample ebook with just some pages and you distribute it with a website or with external download sites (such as www.ebookslibrary.com), as demo
f) within the ebook, at the start or at the end or wherever, you place the purchase link, linked to the ecommerce service (as for b,c,d); or to a "purchase page" on your web site

THREE
g) as above, but you send the ebook or the download link by yourself

FOUR
h) as above but you configure the ecommerce to also call a script on your server that generates the custom password(s) basing on the user data and the author password(s) / seed(s)

etc. etc. etc.
