Spell check (english)

As you may know, some installations of Office 2000/XP don't support sharing the spell-check function with other applications. This sharing is used by our products and enables users to keep a single "custom dictionary", retaining the same spell-check criteria for all (compatible) applications running on the PC. A practical solution to get things working quickly was to install an old MSWord release (for example Word 7). Another solution (for English MSWindows editions only) is to download this ZIP: http://www.visualvision.com/download/SpellFix.zip First close all programs, then extract the .dll .dic and .lex files to the directory shown in the ZIP archive. Then double-click the SpellFix.reg file, this will update the MSWindows registry and you're done.

You need WinZip www.winzip.com for extracting the files. They have to be placed in the folder specified in the ZIP file.

I have installed the spell check files, and clicked on the registration file. Now, after opening the PK and invoking Tools- Page Spell Check i have an Access Violation Error message at address 00000000 read adress 00000000. Can you tell me what is wrong with my setup? Thank You, Conrad

It is likely that you didn't unzipped the files with the right path. The patch does add some entries in the MSWindows registry. They tell to MSWindows where the unzipped files are. If the folders don't match, there are problems. You should be able to open the RegEdit (c:\windows\regedit.exe ) By default, the registry (under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\Spelling\1033\]) should point to: C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\Proof\\MSSP232.DLL C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\Proof\\MSSP2_EN.LEX Please write to support @ visualvision. com should you need more info.
