How to make links from a normal page to a frame?

I have a question. I must create a Table of Contents on a normal page. This one must contain links (eg. Matthew Chapter 1, Matthew Chapter 2 and so on). Every link should lead to a page with frames, to a specific page containing text inserted into one specific field of the frames. I can insert in that field a text or another (eg. the first or second chapter of the Gospel of Matthew), by simply right-clicking the field and selecting "Choose page in frame...". But I cannot make the TOC's links to lead to different text pages inserted in the same field of the framed page. Is this possible, or I should create another framed page for every Chapter of the book? Thanks.

Hi! I think you need to understand how frames work. The best way is opening a new file and following step by step 1) the examples in the Chapter "Frames" of the PDF manual 2) the 2 examples in the Tutorial "how to create a left frame" The main things to understand about frames are: 1) a page can be simultaneously a frame AND host frames; usually the page that hosts the frames SHOULD also be one of the frames of the frameset and it is called "master frame" 2) within the previews, you see only the master page 3) each page can be hosted as frame within infinite frame-sets 4) with normal links, you replace the whole page (be it a frame or a normal page) 5) with special links you can selectively replace a frame (and it can be possibly replaced by a page or also a frameset) Frames are very versatile and simple, but I think the only easy way to learn them is to see the examples: a few images are better than 1000 words...

Dear YaBB, thank you for guidance. I'll post a more complete answer as soon as I learn all the specific terminology of the frames in eBooksWriter. My question was though another: a frame splits the page into several fields, let's say A, B, C. Is it possible to make a link from outside the frame, to the field A while it contains the text "alpha", and then another link, also from outside, to the same field A of the same framed page, while it contains another text, say text "beta"? To be more intuitive, look here: (Unframed page: ) Link 1 ---> (Framed page: ) field A [containing text alpha]. (Unframed page: ) Link 2 ---> (The same framed page: ) field A [containing text beta]. Or should I make another framed page for every text apart, if I want to put them in the same field A, and then link from outside the frames to the framed page #1, for the text "alpha", to the framed page #2, for the text "beta" and so on? (Unframed page: ) Link 1 ---> (Framed page #1: ) [containing text alpha in the field A] (Unframed page: ) Link 2 ---> (Framed page #2: ) [containig text beta in the field A] I'm sure I haven't used the terminology specific to Visual Vision's eBooksWriter, but I hope you have understood what I want to say. BTW, do you know I like the tomcat in your avatar and what it says? Thanks again.

Hi! It's the second one. A visual link in EBW can just change pages / frames. Your task is a bit complicated and as you guessed the simplest way to obtain it is to use 2 different pages. You may be able to obtain the effect you want without changing pages ONLY if you write some Javascript (I don't know exactly how... however there are hundreds books about Javascript... and a lot of informative websites too)
