Usually, when you publish, it overwrites the old stuff. However, to be sure, within the publishing dialog, on the right side, highlight all the files (the old files) then press the DEL key on the keyboard. This will delete the old stuff. Then press the big Publish button. Notice: make sure to publish to the right folder on the server, usually only one folder (and its subfolders) are shown. I am about to complete a whole new website, using 1st site, my original was easy web program. anyhow, my question is, when I upload with FTP to my webhost which is Rogers, will it override the existing files that I guess are automatically stored in the roger webhosting. ? does this make any sense..??

As said above, to be sure you should manually delete the existing content (see above for instructions).
