I am attempting to link to external files using the syntax run:cddrive:\....\... with mixed results. Some links operate correctly by opening the file from the CD, other links with identical syntax attempt to open the linked external file from a directory on my hardisk. No amount of editing seems to make a difference. Any suggestions?

You should use

run:\path\filename.ext

for example, say your CD Drive is called D:, your cd have a folder called "documents" and you want to show "resume.pdf", the syntax is:

run:\documents\resume.pdf

(the cddrive: function is useless in CDFrontEnd).
