Hi,
I am confused (nothing new!) What is the best way to make a CD, CDFrontEnd or HyperPublish? What are the advantages of each one?

This is my situation: I have a brochure (say main.aeh) that links to 2 aeh files (a.aeh and b.aeh). In both of them (a and b) I want to have links back and forth from one to the other.

I think I make directory called data and put in the two aeh. My links to them from brochure should be: run:data/a.aeh and run:data/b.aeh Is that correct? Which program should I use frontend or hyperpublish? thank you.

Main differences:
- HyperPublish can create also Websites, from the same source document; HyperPublish can create auto-install CDs (something is installed on the end user PC)
- CDFrontEnd can not create Websites; CDFrontEnd does create autorun CDs (nothing is installed on the end user PC). CDFrontEnd supports 128 bit strong encoding, password protection, multiple passwords for different
users; copy and print disabling:
Usually you choose ?auto-install? for catalogues (where the end user will want to permanently install the stuff on his/her PC in order to avoid always having the CD within the drive), and ?auto-run? for brochures (where the end user just wants to quickly see, without having to install anything on his PC).

Just use Insert >Link and the second tab (link to a different hypertext).
Before using this feature, rename main.aeh to brochure.aeh (see the reasons below.....).
When you link between 2 (or 3 or 4...) different hypertext documents, the links become broken if you change the hypertext aeh file name.

No. This feature is for running EXTERNAL files.
For AEH files use the Insert >Link as explained.
Well, manually you can also use (instead of run: )
iper://b.aeh|123
(this instructions is a jump to page 123 of b.aeh)

Don't mind. If you use HyperPublish, tell to the wizard to include main.aeh, a.aeh and b.aeh (you should set one as main hypertext, there is a specific button)

If you use CDFrontEnd, it is set to save (when used automatically) just ONE hypertext, with the name "brochure.aeh".
I guess you will create the CD using main.aeh.
To make sure the links between hypertexts work, as the links depends by the NAME of the hypertext, rename main.aeh to brochure.aeh BEFORE placing links to and from other hypertext
and before doing everything else.

CDFrontEnd will create a Temp file set that won't include a.aeh and b.aeh (nor c.aeh d.aeh or whatever... you can place infinite files, actually).
So when you burn the CD with Nero (or whatever) you should burn the CDFE file set + other hypertext such as a.aeh, b.aeh etc. within the main folder of the CD (root folder)

E.g. the CD contains:
autorun.inf
autorun.ico
CDFE_e.exe
readme.txt
brochure.aeh
a.aeh
b.aeh
....

Can I give my users the option of EITHER installing or using from the CD?

Humm.......
There is a trick if you own EBooksWriter (there's a discount for CDFrontEnd owners, email orders@visualvision.com ) and CDFrontEnd.

First you pack your work as EXE file with EBooksWriter, such as
mickey_cd.exe

Then edit the hypertext with CDFrontEnd and include a link (maybe on the home page, maybe an image) "Click here if you want to install ABCD on the hard disk" that is a link such as
run:mickey_cd.exe

Then you create the temp CD with CDFrontEnd, and with your burner program you burn in the CD main folder both the CDFrontEnd files (content of the temp directory) AND the file mickey_cd.exe
