Title: Browsers back button
Post by Campzemer on Mar 7th, 2007, 2:25pm
I hope this is not a repost, I can't find it.  How come my websites don't work with most browsers back button?  Ifordesign.org or Campzemer.com both stay on the same page even if you click the back button.  Any ideas?

Hi!

The browser back button shows the previous website shown into the browser window within the navigation.

*IF* a previous website (web1) has been shown, then a click on a link on the website has moved you to your website, then a click on the back button moves you on the previous website (web1).

When you write directly on the browser address bar usually the browsers forget about what previously was on the page....

Should you have an example (e.g. go here, click here etc.) let us know.
Remember to write the web site name separately such as

www. visualvision. com/abd.htm

(then we will edit and correct it; otherwise there is the spam blocker that will block you)

If you check out this page, Ifordesign .org  you'll see that it does not work to go back or forward if you use your browsers buttons.

If I type ifordesign.org of course I won't be able to go back.

But if you click below:
www.ifordesign.org

then you will be able to go back (I believe... now I will check).
The only possible exception would be caused by the "reframer" script (search the word "reframer" in this forum).

Ok I can not do the test because if I click on www.ifordesign.org from the link above in this forum, then the forum tells the browser to open a new dialog, so of course I can not go back (it is a new dialog!!).

Please provide the URL of a website that includes a link to your site, a link that does not open a separate browser instance.

I think I worded my problem wrong.  It's in the actual website that it's a problem.  Try clicking on any page in the site, and then going back to the home page.  You'll see that you're stuck on the 2nd page unless you use the buttons I place on each page.  BTW thanks for your time.

It does not happen to me.
I clicked on faq, then I click on the browser back button and I am in home
Same for "samples", "pricing".
Sorry I can't test all your website.....
it seems fine.

The only possible problems is with frames (search the word "reframer" in this forum, but it seems you don't have frames...
