Title: search feature form search engine by keyword item Post by marshelle on Sep 16th, 2007, 1:38pm One important feature I must have is a way for customers to have a search box that will locate products by item number or keywords. I can not find anything like that in your information. Does Hyper Publish have this feature and what do you call it? How does it work? |

Title: Re: search feature form search engine by keyword i Post by Support Staff on Sep 16th, 2007, 1:44pm Hi! To have a search feature on the Web you must install (or enable) a "search engine script". Most hosting provider have a "search engine script" pre-installed within the Control Panel - you enable it, and it provides you a short "code" that you must put within a HyperPublish page with "Insert >HTML" in order to enable it. Then you will be able to perform searches. Maybe you can post here some extract from the instructions you will read, in case they are unclear for you - we will try to help. As you may understand, it is the Web server that must perform searches (you create the website with Hyperpublish, but then the website is on the server), so the script is often server-specific and it can not be supplied/created by HP a script that's good for all servers... For the CD part, it's simpler as each CD created with HyperPublish contains a built-in search engine. It has two features: full text search (automatic; can search ANYTHING; by the way also keyword and item numbers, just put them as text on the proper page), and keyword search - you manually add a global keyword list to your work, then, for each page, you assign some keywords to each page (or you simply assign some keywords to each page and they also go into the global list - it's the same), this feature is available under Hypertext >Keywords. A keyword can be a real keyword or a category name, a group, a item number, a code - don't limit yourself just as we call it "keyword". In case you have a recent edition, you may also do this: highlight a word or a text block, use the menù Insert >Special link, click on the tab Various / Others (one of the last tabs) then select "show search window". On the web, a click on the link will show a search box powered by Google (you must define the website name for the search with the Options - the Options button is within the Internet FTP publishing dialog). On CD it will shown the HyperPublish-powered search. |
