Hi, I understand how to add music file to a certain page, but, can I have the music collection continue to play as a user browses from one page to another, (without music interruption re: starts and stops from page to page.) Is this possible.? Thanks for your help.

Hi! There is a trick for this: using frames. Just use a top frame (or left frame) then change pages only with "Special Link" (so the original frame will stay in place - you will be able to test this in preview mode...... maybe you noticed that the special links don't work in "edit mode")....... this will permit to the music to continue....... greetings

I am still confused on this topic. where do I add the music link in each page that I have created for this site.? The site has many many pages. Also, when I go to use the Special Link that you mentioned, on the drop down menu, from: email link to the bottom of the menu, all these features are shadowed out. this includes special link...F5. Thanks for your reply, and your patience.

I think you missed the point. You should not add a "music link". You should not add music to all the pages. You must design the whole web site differently: I understand you already have the work: this is a pity as it is possible you have to redo it all.......... In other words, a music can stay when you change pages ONLY if a frame that contains the music (the classic Insert >Sound where you choose a background sound) do stay there. There is only one way to make a frame stay there. It is: - you design the first page of the work by using frames - within one of the frames you place the background sound - this frame must stay there. It may be a small frame on the top. - the clicks on all the links on the remaining frames must be "special". If you use "normal links", all the page gets replaced, and so the top frame, and we said it must stay there (or the music would stop) - so, you must create these links this way: you highlight a text block, then Insert >Special link As you have seen, Insert >Special link is grayed out if no text is selected. This is because you can not link the empty space. The text block where the link will be placed need to be selected in order to apply the link........ I hope this makes more sense. There is an interesting tutorial "How to make a left side menu" (hit F1, Tutorials), that shows 2 ways in order to make this menu. One of the two ways is the right one, the same that I tried to quickly explain above (just replace "top frame" with "left frame")..........

HI Thanks again. Okay now that's not so difficult either, ha,!! but, special link, : I can only seem to get it to the point that when I do preview the site it will open a new window on each link that I view, and yes while still playing the music (which is the goal here). I am trying the different tabs that are offered but I can't seem to get it yet so that the site remains the same without the new windows. does this make any sense?? Okay, thanks for all your help. any further ideas suggestions always appreciated.

Okay I think it can work, but now here is another question, can I establish the same website one with music...and one without. So on my initial home page I can link to view site with music..this way the viewer would have a choice based of course on the time spent on the site, and what internet connection they have. how would I, if possible, have the same site available with music to access from my current website homepage..Thanks again.

Well I think this is quite easy. You can use the suggestions by Bello. First create that frame set, but not in the home page. The home page (page 0) would be a standalone page, that will coincide with the "big frame" of the frameset (the frameset may be, say, within page 2 - as you should have seen, within a frame-set you can right click or use Format >Advanced frameset manager, and assign as guest frame any page already existing, in other words any page, including page 0, can become one of the frames). Then you will add a link within a page 0 such as "Click here for the site with music" that will point to page 2. So, if the end user wants the music, he will click and he will go to page 2 that is just page 0 plus one frame on the top. If not he will stay on page 0 and click. If, on page 0, you use all special links of the kind "replace current page", then they will always work (no matter if the end user continues in page 0, or he will go to page 2 that has the additional frame on the top with the music) With some attempts you should get this......... Good work

That's it Thank You. I get it. I thanks to your reply and Bello's. This is great!!! Okay one more thing to a add to my questions: ' special links of the kind "replace current page" where do you find this: when I go to insert, special links, my choices are: Link kind: tabs: anchor / normal / independant window / in frame or window / close window / other / cart / plug in/ right now what I have done is all that you mentioned, click here for site with music, etc. and linked to a page 2.. page 2, used my usual frames, and edit / pasted page from 0. inserted the music/sound. and special linked all the links on page 2. Now if I go to page 0. and click on enter site with music, once there (page 2 which now looks like the homepage 0) the first link (any link I choose) opens a new window to continue to view the entire site with music. Although I think this will work,.. I know you mentioned a step that I could of done rather than applying special links to page two. and that is on page 0 using special links of the kind: replace current page. but I don't see that option anywhere. ?? unless I have misunderstood. So far so good though!! Thanks so much. any further suggestions to what I have mentioned above always appreciated.

Special links, under the tab "normal" you should choose "in current window, replaces caller page"

Are you using Internet Explorer 7?? It has a bug that affects the frame feature. It incorrectly parse the "BASE" target. Please report the bug to Microsoft: they will correct it fast only if they receive complaints. (it seems they decided to NOT correct) http://www.paperinik.com/cgi-bin/eng/YaBB.pl?board=HP;action=display;num =1166272160 Otherwise the "replace current page" features works. You can test it in the editor by using the preview mode (Hypertext >Read only). It is not possible to better explain all the stuff with words.... everything is very simple but it would be more fast to show you the stuff with images.......... or maybe with an example file.........
