I have several books I have already written in Word. I purchased the STD version to make simple ebooks to sell on the web. I have no desire to make complex ebooks, I simply want one single page containing the whole book. I've copied and pasted the book and set up a password, but when I save it as an SFX ebook it never asks for user information when installed on another computer! It simply displays the ebook upon installation. I'm getting frustrated as hell because no matter what I do it won't ask the user for there name and email upon installlation. What am I doing wrong?

Addenda: please split the ebook into pages. It is really boring to use only one page. Additionally, the first page (page 0, the cover page) should be an intro page, maybe a nice image, and it is usually non protected (so the password will be asked only when the end user click the link "click here to start" or "start here" or so... and he enters the first passworded page)

Either I have encountered a bug that you are just not aware of or I simply haven't made myself clear. Let me repeat, it is NOT asking for name or email--PERIOD! I have read the darn manual and I read every topic on passwords BEFORE I made my post. I even had other people use it with the same result. I thought that maybe it was because I was using the download version, but the cd came today and I'm having the same problem. I'm really regretting having purchased this. I've made several test ebooks with just a few words to test the password function. Let me spell out step by step what I am doing: 1) I type a few words 2) I go to the password screen and add a password 3) I check the page I want protected and check "custom password for each user" 4)click OK 5) create an SFX book But when I install the book on ANY computer it simply dispays the ebook. I've made books with many different pages so it has nothing to do with it only being one page. The only thing I can think of that could have something to do with it is that after I choose a password, if I go back to the screen I notice the password has disappeared as if I had never entered anything! I hope I am making myself clear this time. I know I'm writing alot but its because I'm getting frustrated as hell, especially when I'm told to read the manual! Michael p.s. I don't care about the ebook being "boring", I simply have a file that I want password protected. I don't have time to worry about graphics and linking pages etc. The only reason I bought the software was because I thought I could just copy and paste my file and have it password protected.

The issue is now solved (the new version expressly asks you "do you want to apply this pass to all pages" when you add a password) but I post this just for OLD VERSIONS users. When you add a password, please make sure that then this password is "applied" to one or more pages. As you know, with EbooksWriter you can add one or more password. Each password can be assigned to one or more pages. This way you can left a section non protected, and you can (say) create a "client" section with password A and a "dealer" section with password B. The password protection process is basically this: 1) you press the "Add password" button 2) a password is added on the password list on the left (you can edit / change the password with a slow double click) 3) you select a password on the left list, then you check on the right list all the pages that will be protected with this password Then you save the ebook (File >Save). If you inserted just one password (simplest case) in order to verify that you actually "protected" something, there is a simple test. Load the ebook, use Hypertext >Password, select a password on the left, and take a look on the right list. Are the pages checked (or some)? If Yes, you protected these pages. If not, you forgot this step. Michael just forgot this second step.

Regrettably some people is attempting to use the forum in order to raise their position on Google. We are filtering out all their terms, so it is likely they won't waste their time with useless posts. We are currently filtering out the name of over 50 pharmaceutical stuff We are posting this message as we do notice that you, the regular EbooksWriter users, are not using the forum so much. Why? Posting a link to your site (about your ebook) here will raise your position on Google and will advertise your ebook. Please be kind and post this kind of advertising ONLY to the proper topic that is "examples of ebooks created with ebookswriter" http://www.easywebeditor.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?board=EBW;action=disp lay;num=1021548372 or also "examples of ebooks created with ebookswriter" http://www.paperinik.com/cgi-bin/eng/YaBB.pl?board=EBW;action=display;nu m=1021548372 if the forum refuses your post please asks us by email (there is a specific way to enter URLs that we can not write here or spammers will take advantage)
